Learning How to Play The Guitar

 

Philosophy

 

There is no one who cannot play the guitar. It is just a matter of understanding and conducting the student to fulfill his/her passion.

Throughout these years of teaching, I am proud to say that none of my student gave up the instrument due to their limitations. My methodology is: understand the student's goal and help him/her to achieve it through examples, explanations, and patience. 

 

Classic Guitar/Popular Guitar

 

These two schools are quite different in terms of repertoire and technique.

In the Classic Guitar School, the technique has been developed throughout the centuries, achieving its peak in the beggining of the XX century with the Spanish guitarist Andrés Segovia. Many methods have been written in order to develop the technique. Using fingernails, the performer can achieve a high volume from his/her instrument and also, different timbre and colors depending on where he/she plucks the string. The repertoire is huge. It covers pieces from XV century until today.  It is really magic to perform classic guitar due to the inumerous possibility of sound that guitar can offer.

 

The Popular Guitar is a school without much concern about the sound and clearness comparing to the Classic Guitar School. Using a pick, the performer will strum the guitar with different patterns according to the music style. Most popular guitarists are really good in read charts and improvising upon a harmony. They normally play in bands or accompaining singers. It is really fun to share you musicianship with others and jam with different musicians regardless a music score.

 

Electric Guitar

 

Who has never dreamed to be on a stage playing for thousands of people shredding your guitar? Regardless your music style, the electric guitar has a deep technique in order to develop strenght, stamina, dynamic, and synchronism between hands. All great guitarist spend most of their time practicing scales after scales just to enhance their technique. The reason is, the better you are prepared, the better you will play with more confidence. Bring you passion and excitement and explore all that the electric guitar can offer to you.
