Electric Guitar

 

The electric guitarist has almost the same notions as a popular guitarist. However, electric guitarists will develop deeper picking techniques and explore/manage different sounds through the multi-effect pedal. The electric guitarist, regardless his prefered music style, should be able to perform and improvise in any style due to his background technique and knowledge about music forms. Below are the minimum requirements for each level of expertise.

 

Beginner Level:

   - Learning about the instrument (strings and frets);

   - Picking technique (alternating pick and swipping);

   - Chords and its inversions/Powerchords; 

   - Pentatonic scales and with blues notes;

   - Blues and Rock n'Roll licks.

 

Intermediate Level:

   - Major and all minor scales in different positions and shapes;

   - Major and minor harmonic field;

   - Greek modes;

   - introduction to improvisation;

 

Advanced Level:

   - Two-hands technique;

   - Strings leapping;

   - Arpeggios (major, minor and its extensions);

   - Improvisation in different styles.
